Supporting the Conyers Community
At BioLab, we take our role in the Conyers community very seriously. Our priority at all times has been public health and safety. The emergency response operation led by the Unified Command – which comprised local, state, and federal officials in addition to BioLab senior leaders – was successfully completed on October 17, 2024. As part of our commitment to supporting impacted area residents and business owners, we also established resources dedicated to responding to the needs of the community and to continuously fielding calls, emails, and in-person questions – helping with processing claim requests and more.
Since that effort began in early October, we have responded to more than 43,000 calls and 18,000 emails, as well as helped 5,000 individuals through our in-person Community Assistance Center, evaluating and processing reimbursement requests and more.
Moving forward, our focus is on completing the site clean -up and continuing to partner with local organizations to support the community.

Answering Your Questions
With emergency response operations completed, what does the remaining remediation entail?
With the emergency response phase concluded and the Unified Command disbanded, BioLab has shifted its focus to ongoing remediation efforts to complete clean up at the site. Overseen by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, this will include offsite treatment, disposal, or recycling of remaining material and building debris at appropriately permitted facilities, remediation of the adjacent stormwater retention basin, and continued air monitoring onsite and in the community, as needed.
How has BioLab supported the community?
BioLab moved quickly to establish a number of initiatives to support the community:
- Our dedicated call center assisted with processing claims, as well as answering general questions. In the months after the fire, area residents and business owners were able to reach a live representative, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Our local Community Assistance Center in Conyers was established to provide a central in-person location for area residents and business owners to directly access information and resources coordinated by BioLab. The Community Assistance Center supported more than 5,000 in person visits since it was setup in October. From now through April 11, the Center will continue to distribute checks for approved claims. Additional information on claims can be found here. Community members with approved payments should only report to the Center when they are notified by their adjuster that their check is ready for pickup. Please note the Center is no longer managing claims onsite.
- Our Community Liaison – who is an experienced BioLab employee and resident of Conyers – was on-the-ground engaging with residents and local businesses to answer questions and understand how BioLab could best support our community.
- Our debris removal service was made available to community members who wished to have fire debris cleared from their private property. Over the course of four weeks, this service removed debris from more than 130 properties, in addition to clearing debris from public areas and roads carried off-site by the wind.
We have made donations to local organizations to support their own efforts to assist area residents, as well as provided volunteers and other forms of assistance, including over the 2024 holiday season.
Please note that BioLab has now processed the vast majority of remaining claims. As a result, on April 11, 2025 at 5 pm ET, the Community Assistance Center and Call Center will transition to fielding any go-forward inquiries by email and the 927 N Main Street location will close. For any inquiries moving forward, community members can continue to email [email protected].
